ED seal is a special elastomer static seal that conforms to DIN 3869 and is used in threaded holes of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Its main function is axial static sealing – that is, it creates a seal by axial compression in the threaded joint, as opposed to the O-ring, which often relies on radial compression. A key characteristic of an ED seal is its unique geometry, which ensures that its cross-sectional area remains almost constant even at high pressure, resulting in better sealing ability and reliability compared to standard O-rings.

Advantage of ED seal:

• The special shape (geometry) ensures that the seal does not deform like the O-ring.
• It maintains almost the same cross-sectional area even at high pressures.
• Therefore, it has higher reliability and resistance to extrusion than classic O-rings.

They are used, for example, in threaded adapters, screws, hydraulic valves, etc.
