This 2-port, pilot, direct-acting pressure relief cartridge is an electroproportionally controlled pressure control valve. Proportional control allows infinite, stepless regulation within the selected pressure range. When the pressure at port 1 (inlet) is sufficient to overcome the forces of the solenoid as determined by the analog input signal, the platter rises and allows flow from port 1 to port 2 (output). This pilot control cartridge uses a T-8A cavity, so it can be used in conjunction with the Sun main stage, pressure control elements.

• Changing the analog input signal to a proportional solenoid provides smooth pressure control.
• This electroproportional cartridge uses the Sun T-8A, a 2-port cavity, making it an ideal choice for use in conjunction with Sun’s main stage cartridges. Separate pilot lines are eliminated and only one cavity needs to be machined to accommodate both the control and primary functions. Note: All 2-port pilot stage control cartridges use the same cavity and are physically interchangeable. Functionality is the only consideration.
• All pressure ranges drop to setting 0 with no analog input signal. The pressure ranges indicate the area of the valve with acceptable power.
• The L (Manual Override – Adjustable) control allows you to manually adjust the valve in the event of an electrical fault. The L control also allows you to compensate for the pressure range. For example, if the Range A valve is mechanically moved to a setting of 1500 psi (105 bar), the new maximum will be 4500 psi (310 bar).
• The “E” manual control assembly has a mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles.
• The damped design provides stable operation over a wide range of operating conditions. Note: Models equipped with an “M” control do not include a damping hole in the solenoid anchor.
• The “E” instant/turn option allows the operator to move the valve by turning the manual control clockwise by 90 degrees.
• Cartridges configured with EPDM sealing are designed for use in systems with phosphorus ester-based fluids. Exposure to petroleum-based fluids, lubricants, and lubricants will damage the seals.
• Note: The main stage valve should first be installed to the correct torque value, then the T-8A pilot control part in the main stage valve should be installed to the desired torque value.
• For optimal performance, an amplifier with current sensing and an adjustable dither should be used. The dither should be adjustable between 100-250 Hz.
• NOTE: There is no upper limit to the pressure setting when using the M control. The more force you exert on manual control, the higher the resulting pressure.
• The high pilot capacity allows the operation of larger elements of the main stage.
• Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
• Low leakage level in the closed position. (Re-settling occurs at 85% burst pressure.)
• The coils are interchangeable with other full-flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
• It incorporates Sun’s floating style design to minimize the possibility of internal parts jamming due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
